2^nd 6-weeks

• The 2^nd 6-weeks ends this Friday, November 1
• Students, make every effort to complete any 0’s, retake any failed exams, and complete missing work from possible absences – communicate with your teachers regarding their expectations or timelines for any these.

Summit Cross Country

• CONGRATULATIONS to Eduardo Estrada for placing 10^th at the 5A Region 1 Cross Country Meet in Lubbock.
• Eduardo advanced to the STATE CC Meet and will compete on Saturday, November 2^nd at 11:25 am – Old Settler’s Park, Round Rock, TX

Summit Band

• CONGRATULATIONS to the Summit HS Marching Band for their Division 1 rating at the UIL Region 5 Competition on Tuesday and for advancing to UIL Area Competition on Saturday.
• Their program SPELLBOUND was simply amazing!

SHS COUNSELOR’S CORNER

1. With the summer temps here in Texas it’s hard to believe that the holidays are coming soon.  If your family could use some assistance for the upcoming holiday season please view the flyer here. 

2. UTA night--Are you considering UTA as one of your college options or just want to learn more about UTA?  Join us for UTA Night @ MISD.  The event will be November 13^th at the Dr.  Jim Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts from 6 PM- 8 PM.  There will be an admissions presentation, financial aid presentation, UTA Academic Department Fair, and an Application Station for seniors with an Application Fee Waiver for anyone who completes their application at the event.  This is a great time to learn more about your program of interest and get that application completed! 

3. 11^th grade course registration-- As we near the month of November, it’s time for counselors to begin meeting with 11^th grade students to review their course selections for senior year.   

Starting on November 6^th, counselors will meet individually with current 11^th grade students to review each student’s current transcript and their senior course selections in Xello.  Remember, students created a four year plan back in 8^th grade that is reviewed each year with the student’s counselor.  Please log into Xello through your Classlink page between now and November 6^th and review the course selections under “course planner” to prepare for your meeting with your counselor. 

Course requests are submitted in November and December during these meetings.  Parents and students will be given the opportunity to review their senior year course requests again during the month of April and make any needed changes before the end of April 2025 so that we will be able to begin working on the master schedule for 25-26 going into the upcoming year.
