SHS Announcements Week of Jan 13

Summit Cheer Meeting - There will be a mandatory parent meeting for anyone wanting to tryout for Summit cheer or mascot on Thursday January 9 or Tuesday January 14 at 6:30 at the Performing Arts Center. There are some changes to the tryout process this year, so do not miss out on the information. A parent needs to attend one of these 2 meetings.

Pride Club - Pride Club will be meeting Monday at 3:05 in G9.

Yearbooks On Sale - Yearbooks are still just 65 dollars and can be purchased by visiting yearbookforever.com. Hurry! Order by January 15 to avoid a price increase. If you have questions or need to pay using cash, please see Ms. Best in J9 for details.

Bowling Accolades - Congratulations to the first bowlers of the week Shiloh Westerlund and Tucker Harvey! Come out and support the bowling team this Saturday at Forum Bowl at noon to see these great bowlers in action.

Sons of Summit Meeting - Sons Of Summit, there will be a meeting on Tuesday, January 14th in room C10.5, at 3PM. The meeting will last until 4 PM. If there are students interested in joining the Sons, you are welcomed at this meeting.

Attention Student Drivers - If a parking spot has a number on it that means it is reserved and YOU CAN NOT PARK THERE!! Any student who illegally parks in senior parking will be reported to campus police and receive school disciplinary actions that will eventually lead to the loss of ALL exemptions. DO NOT PARK in a senior parking spot if it is not yours!!

Choir Accolades - After beginning, in September the process of auditioning for the Texas Music Educators All State choir along with 15,000 high school singers from across the state, four Summit Choir members auditioned in the fourth and final round on Saturday.
Please congratulate Senior Justin Jolly chair 6 Tenor 1 and Junior Marcela Estrada Di Nisio, Chair 2, Alto 1.
Their high ranks in this round have secured their membership into the 2020 TMEA All State Choir.
They will perform their concerts on Saturday February 15 in San Antonio at the TMEA convention.
This is the highest honor awarded to a high school singer in the state of Texas and we are exceedingly proud of everyone who has been a part of this journey!

Baseball Tryouts - Interested in trying out for Baseball? There will be a short meeting Tuesday, January 14th right after school in room A3. If you cannot make it, please see Coach Lyell this week in H10 during Advisory.

40 Book Pledge - The 40 Book Pledge will meet this Tuesday, Jan. 14 in the library during all 3 lunches. See Mrs. Tahaney for details.

Snowball Dance - Buy your tickets for the Snowball Dance on Saturday Feb 1st. Tickets can be purchased until Monday the 27th at the bookkeeper. Both cash and card are accepted.

Band Accolades - This weekend, the Summit Band had 25 students compete at the Area B competition at Coppell HS. All these students did an outstanding job preparing for this audition and represented our school with pride. Three musicians advanced to be named Texas All-State Musicians. Those students were: Stephanie Nguyen on Piccolo, Donovan Neal on Bassoon, & Isabella Garcia on French Horn. These students will travel to San Antonio in February to participate in the All-State Ensembles at the TMEA State Convention. Congratulations to these students!!!

FAFSA Deadline - Wednesday January 15th is the Texas state school priority deadline for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)...so seniors...have your completed your FAFSA? If not stop by the GO Center in the library to get some help. Completing your FAFSA is the best way to get financial help for college tuition for next year. Complete yours today!

Attention AP Students -  If you are registered to take an AP exam your skyward account will display an AP exam fee. All fees must be paid by February 21st. Fees can be paid to the bookkeeper using cash or check. If you have any questions please see your AP teacher or Mr. Peters.

Join the Debate Team - Are you good at public speaking? Are you passionate about advocating for what you feel is right? Join the debate team! We meet every Monday in Ms. Patton's room after school, room I-14. Hope to see you there.

Swim Team Accolades - Congratulations to our Lady Jaguar Diver Christine Pham for her great performance at yesterday's UIL District 4-6A Championships!!! Christine finished 4th overall and qualified to the Region 1-6A Diving competition at Lubbock Texas in two weeks. Great Job!!! Good Luck to our swim team as they prepare to compete at the District 4-6A Championships this Saturday at the MISD Natatorium. Come and support our Jaguar swimmers!!! Competition starts at 2:15pm. GO JAGS!!!
