  • 40 Book Pledge Meeting - Do you like to read and discuss books? Come to the library during your lunch today. We have snacks and free books for all who attend. This is a regular meeting for the 40 Book Pledge, but all who like to talk about books are invited to attend.
     
  • Band Accolades - This weekend, the Summit Band competed at the Mansfield Preview of Champions Marching Contest. The band placed 3rd in prelims, and 6th overall. Congratulations to the Summit Band, and best of luck as they compete at the Bands of America contest in Midland this coming weekend!
     
  • Club and Oraganization Fair - Friday, October 1st, will be our Annual Club and Organization Fair. Students will be able to see, hear and find their Club or Organization of interest throughout the building. It will happen during a modified Advisory this Friday. All staff will have Club and Organization details to post and share with interested students.
     
  • Register to Vote - Seniors or any 18 year old's in the building not registered to vote, then see your Government teacher for Voter Registration - the last day to register to be able to vote in November is Monday 4 October. Any questions see your government teacher or Dr. McCombs in C10.5
     
  • Sapphire Accolades - Last week's Sapphire of the Week was Toke Awotoye (Toe-kay Ah-wuh-toy-ay) and Dancer of the Week was Kaiyana Bobo. Last week's Sapphire Teacher of the Week was Mr. Ramos. Thank you for all of your support this season!
     
  • Library Scavenger Hunt - September is almost over. So it’s time to turn in your library scavenger hunt.  Haven’t done one yet?  Go to the library and pick up a copy today.  You need to hurry because prizes are limited.  See you in the library.
     
  • Order your Yearbook - Students: You may purchase a 2022 yearbook for the lowest cost all year right NOW at www.yearbookforever.com. If you have questions, please see Ms. Best in J8.
     
  • Art Club Meeting - Do you want a great opportunity to meet and collaborate with like minded creatives? Art club is a place where students who are interested in the visual arts can meet and create together. You are welcome to participate anytime and do not need to currently be enrolled in an art class to join. Art Club will meet every Thursday from 3:15-4:00 PM in K3.
     
  • Muslim Student Association Meeting - Hello Summit Muslim Students Association, our next MSA meeting is scheduled for Thursday September 30 at 3 pm in room D2. We will be voting for officers in this meeting so you don't want to miss it. Come see Mrs. Bhatti for more information in room D2.
     
  • Sapphires Mini-Dance Clinic - Teachers, staff, and any students who have siblings age 5 through 8th grade! The Sapphires will be hosting a Sapphire Mini Dance Clinic on Saturday, October 16th from 8:30am-12:00pm. All participants will be performing a pre-game dance routine, tunnel lines, and sit in the stands during 1st quarter with the Sapphires Drill Team at the October 22nd varsity football game. The cost is $35.00 and will also include a picture with a Sapphire in uniform, two small poms, entry into the game, and a clinic t-shirt.   • Library Books - During the month of October, the library is putting the "Boo" in Books. Anyone who checks out a book this month gets a sweet Halloween treat.  Remember to bring your ID!
     
  • UIL Science/Math Meeting - Students, UIL Science and Math will have its first meeting in D2 after school on Monday October 4th from 3 to 3:30. We will talk about the competition and its aspects and study materials. Come see Mrs. Bhatti in D2 for more information.
     
  • Young Writers Competition - Are you a talented young writer? Are you interested in winning up $1,000 in prizes or up to $60,000 in scholarships at Bennington College? Bennington College's 23rd annual Young Writers Awards competition is now accepting submissions. This competition is free to enter and the deadline is November 1st. High School Students may apply in poetry, fiction, or nonfiction categories. For more information go to bennington.edu/YWA or see Ms. McPhee in I3.
     
  • FASFA is Open - Seniors: The FAFSA is now open! As you may have heard, the state of Texas now requires seniors to complete the FAFSA or formally opt out. If you are planning to attend college, you should complete the FAFSA. Even if you don’t think you’ll qualify for “free” money, many colleges require the FAFSA to be completed and use it when considering students for scholarships. We have scheduled some evening “hands on” help events at the MISD Center for the Performing Arts for you to get the help you need! The first one is Wed. October 13th. To register for the event, please go to the counseling office or Go Center for details! Plan to bring your Chromebook or personal device
